Recent guides say Macy's refunds the difference if its own price drops within 10 days of your order, with exclusions for clearance and marketplace items.

Macy's own help pages could not be read when we checked on October 26, 2026: macys.com returned an access denied page to every request. The rules below are as reported by recent shopping and pricing sites, listed at the end, and we kept only what at least two of them agree on. Confirm with Macy's customer service before you rely on an adjustment.

The 10 day window

Savingsays and Priceva, both updated in August 2026, say that if an eligible item drops in price at Macy's within 10 days, you can ask for the difference back. Savingsays counts from the order date; Priceva and DealHack say 10 days from purchase. For a store purchase those are the same day. If your order shipped, ask early rather than late.

Large items and delivery

Both Savingsays and Priceva say the timing for furniture and mattresses depends on how the item reaches you. Priceva says that for White Glove delivery the window starts after delivery, not on the order date. Savingsays names in-home delivery, warehouse shipping and vendor shipping as cases that change the start, and suggests confirming eligibility with customer service.

What has to match

The same item must still be on sale at the lower price: the same model, size and color, in stock, according to both guides. The lower price has to be a Macy's price. Savingsays calls it an officially advertised Macy's price, and Priceva says Macy's stopped matching competitors' prices in 2022. ShopSavvy still describes competitor matching with proof, so the sources do not fully agree; ask Macy's if you want to match another store.

What is left out

Both main guides agree on these exclusions:

  • Items sold and shipped by third-party sellers or vendor partners on macys.com
  • Clearance merchandise

Priceva also lists Black Friday and other big sale events, pricing errors and special online codes. We found no second recent source for that list, so treat it as possible, not certain.

How the money comes back

Savingsays and Priceva both say an approved adjustment goes back to the payment method you used.

How to ask

  1. Find your order number or receipt and the date you bought the item.
  2. Check the current Macy's price for the exact same item.
  3. Contact Macy's customer service within the 10 days and ask for a price adjustment.
  4. Keep the confirmation of the refund.

Savingsays says online orders go through Macy's chat and store purchases through a store, with the receipt. That detail came from one source only, so ask which route applies to you.
