Menards Price Match Policy and Sale Price Adjustments

Menards' help pages describe no competitor price match; they offer sale price adjustments within 14 days, paid as a Merchandise Credit Check.

Store policies change. This is a summary in our own words of the Pricing and Payment FAQs in the Menards Help Center, read on October 26, 2026. The official page is the one that applies; check it or ask your store before you count on an adjustment.

Does Menards price match?

Menards' Pricing and Payment FAQs do not describe matching a lower price from another store or website. What the page does describe is a sale price adjustment: if Menards itself puts an item on sale shortly after you bought it, you can get the difference back. If you want Menards to match a competitor's price, ask at the store, but nothing on its help page promises it.

Menards excludes end-of-season discounts, closeout items and special promotions, naming its 11% Rebate events, Bag Sales and Dutch Auctions as examples.

How you get the money

Menards does not refund the difference to your card. It issues a Menards Merchandise Credit Check, which works toward future purchases at any Menards store. The page notes that these credit checks cannot be used on Menards.com at this time, so plan to spend the credit in person.

Adjustments during an 11% sale

Menards runs 11% sales, and the help page has separate rules for adjusting earlier purchases to them:

  • The item must have been bought within 14 days before the 11% sale began.
  • Items bought at full price qualify, and so do items bought on sale that stay on sale during the 11% event. Items with a sale price that is not part of the 11% sale are excluded.
  • Gift cards, event tickets, items bought with coupons, returns, propane, Minute Key purchases, delivery and handling charges, rentals, processing and packaging fees, and extended service agreements do not qualify.
  • Only the original, unaltered sales receipt is accepted.
  • An adjustment cannot be combined with another 11% price adjustment offer.

This one works by mail. Pick up an 11% Price Adjustment Rebate Form at the store (Menards says the forms are available for up to 3 weeks after the sale), fill it in and mail it with your original receipt to the PO box on the form. The rebate comes as a Merchandise Credit Check. Menards warns that a later price adjustment, exchange or return on the same items voids the 11% rebate on them.

Coupons

The same page says Menards stores accept various coupons for items they sell, but not photocopied coupons or coupons with no expiration date, and points to its coupon policy for details.

Tips to get the difference

  1. Keep the original receipt. Menards' rules for both adjustments require it.
  2. Check the weekly sale flyer for 14 days after a big purchase.
  3. Go to the store while the sale is still running; adjustments are only given during the promotion.
  4. Expect store credit, not cash back to your card.
