Lowe's Tool Rental, Explained
Select Lowe's stores rent tools and equipment from four hours up to four weeks; you reserve online, prepay on a credit card and bring a valid ID.

Which stores rent tools
Lowe's Rental runs at select stores, not at every Lowe's. Lowe's says to contact your local store to see if tool rental is available there.
What you can rent
Lowe's lists these equipment groups as available at select stores: fasteners, floor care, general construction, ladders and scaffolding, lawn care, material handling, paint and drywall, plumbing and pumps, portable power, power tools, pressure washers, rotary and demolition tools, tile saws, trailers, tree care, trenchers and welding. The page names Metabo HPT, Husqvarna and Bosch among the brands, and mentions larger machines such as backhoes, excavators and lifts.
Some rentals run through partners, each with its own page: truck rentals, QEM dumpster and equipment rentals, 1-800-PACK-RAT moving and storage, and BISSELL carpet cleaners.
How renting works
- Pick the equipment in the online storefront, where you can check availability and compare prices, and confirm your dates. To reserve you sign in or create an account.
- You get an email confirming the request, with next steps.
- Pick up in store or curbside. For curbside, park in a Rental space marked R1 or R2 and call the number on the sign.

Rental periods and payment
Lowe's offers four-hour, 24-hour, weekly and four-week rates. Rentals start at four hours, and you can extend a contract up to four weeks by calling the rental associate at your location; the charge is adjusted for the extra time.
Lowe's requires prepayment on a credit card to start a rental. The amount varies by equipment, and the online storefront shows current pricing.
Damage, cleaning and fuel
- Damage: damage from normal use is covered by damage protection coverage, which you can choose at the start of the rental contract.
- Cleaning: equipment must come back clean.
- Fuel: equipment must come back with a full tank; refueling fees apply where relevant. Ask an associate for the details at your store.
Getting it home
Associates help load equipment. For large items, Lowe's Rental offers trailers, and some locations also rent trucks, vans or box trucks.
Rent or buy?
Lowe's makes the case that renting saves the cost of buying, maintaining and storing commercial-grade equipment you need once. If you will use a tool often, compare the rental rate for your project length with the price of the tool on the shop pages.
