Michaels Store Hours, Explained
Michaels sets hours per store, so check the store locator; its last published US holiday notice closed every store on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Store hours change. This page sums up, in our own words, what Michaels itself has published about its hours, read on October 26, 2026. The individual store pages in the Michaels store locator would not load for us that day, so we do not list opening or closing times here. Check your own store before you go.
What time does Michaels open and close?
There is no single published answer. Michaels runs over 1,300 stores in 49 states and Canada, and it does not post one chain-wide schedule. Instead, the official Michaels store locator is organized by state and province: pick your state, then your city, then the store. Its own holiday notices also give times in local time and change them day by day, so hours can differ from place to place and from day to day.
Ways to check the hours before a trip:
- Store locator. Open locations.michaels.com and choose your state, city and store.
- Michaels.com. The address michaels.com/store-locator forwards to the same locator.
- Call the store. This is the safest check on a holiday or a day with bad weather.
Holidays when Michaels closes
The most recent holiday hours notice we found on the Michaels newsroom is from 2022. In it, Michaels said:
| Day (2022) | What Michaels announced |
|---|---|
| Thanksgiving, November 24 | All US stores closed |
| Black Friday, November 25 | Stores reopened at 7 a.m. local time |
| Christmas Eve, December 24 | Open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time |
| Christmas Day, December 25 | Closed |
| New Year's Eve, December 31 | Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time |
| New Year's Day, January 1, 2023 | Open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time |
Those times were for 2022 only. Michaels had not posted 2026 holiday hours in its newsroom when we checked, so treat the table as a guide to the pattern (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, shorter hours around the New Year), not as this year's schedule.
Black Friday and holiday events
For 2025 Michaels announced a ten-day Black Friday sale from November 21 to November 30, then Cyber Week deals from December 1 to December 6. It also scheduled free in-store crafting events every Saturday in December from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., plus weekly Sunday events from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. through the winter. Michaels has not yet announced its 2026 Black Friday dates or opening times.
Before you go
- Look up your store on the day you plan to shop, not days ahead.
- Around Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year, look for a new holiday notice in the Michaels newsroom or on your store page.
- In the 2022 notice, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve hours were shorter than a full day, so do not leave errands for late afternoon on those days.
