Stores That Accept PayPal, Online and In Store
Best Buy takes PayPal online and in stores; Target and IKEA take it online only, Walmart lists it among its payment methods, and Costco does not list it.

Stores treat PayPal differently on their websites and at their registers. This page sums up, in our own words, what each store's own payment page said on October 27, 2026. Payment options change and can differ between a store and its website, so check the store's page before you count on PayPal.
Which stores take PayPal

Best Buy
Best Buy lists PayPal on both its BestBuy.com list and its in-store list of accepted payments. Online, you cannot split an order between PayPal and a credit or debit card. The same goes for Apple Pay, and BestBuy.com takes only one credit or debit card per order.
Target
Target lists PayPal among payments for Target.com and the Target app, and names PayPal Pay in 4 among its third-party installment plans. PayPal is not on its in-store list. Venmo is a different story: Target says Venmo cards work in stores, but Venmo QR code payments do not. More in the Target payment methods guide.
IKEA
IKEA's US payment page lists PayPal under its online payment options. It does not appear among the in-store options.
Walmart
Walmart's payment methods page lists PayPal alongside debit and credit cards, Pay by Bank, gift cards, Walmart Balance, EBT for eligible items and HSA or FSA cards. The page does not say whether PayPal works at store registers, and it notes that some payment methods may not be available for orders shipped abroad. More in the Walmart payment methods guide.
Costco
Costco's list of accepted payments has separate sections for US warehouses, Costco gas stations and Costco.com. PayPal is not named in any of them. See the Costco payment methods guide for what it does take.
Tips before you pay
- Check online and in store separately. Target and IKEA take PayPal only on their websites.
- Do not plan to split a Best Buy online order between PayPal and a card.
- Look at the checkout page. The payment options shown there are the ones that apply to your order.
