Ulta Beauty Rewards Points and Tiers, Explained
Ulta Beauty Rewards is free, earns 1 point per $1, and turns 100 to 2,000 points into $3 to $125 off; Platinum starts at $500 a year.

Store programs change. This is a summary in our own words of Ulta Beauty's Rewards pages and FAQ, read on October 26, 2026. Many shoppers still search for Ultamate Rewards; Ulta's current name for the program is Ulta Beauty Rewards. The official terms are the ones that apply.
How points work
Membership is free. You must be at least 13 and live in the United States, and anyone under 18 needs a parent's or guardian's consent. Points come from qualifying purchases and beauty services in stores, in the app and on ulta.com. Gift cards, tips, shipping, taxes, donations and fees do not earn points.

Ulta upgrades you automatically when you cross a threshold. Status lasts for the rest of that year and all of the next, and you must requalify each year to keep it.
Bonus point offers stack, and you activate them in the app. Ulta's FAQ gives this example: a $25 skin care item with a 2X offer on that item and a 3X offer on the whole purchase earns 100 points in total, since the base points count only once.
What points are worth
You can redeem once you have 100 points. In stores, points come off in fixed steps, or a mix of them:

The larger steps are worth more per point, so saving up pays. Ulta caps redemptions at 4,000 points per online order and 10,000 points per store purchase.
Points can be combined with Ulta coupons and other offers. The FAQ names one exception: online orders paid with Afterpay. Our Ulta coupon policy guide covers what coupons exclude.
When points expire
For regular Members, points expire at the end of the quarter one year after they were earned. Platinum and Diamond points do not expire while you keep that status. Your receipt and the app show the next expiration date.
Birthday and tier perks
With a birthday on file, Members get 2X points on qualifying purchases during their birthday month (activation required) and a birthday gift coupon if they get Ulta emails or use the app, while supplies last. Platinum and Diamond add an extra birthday perk. Diamond also brings free shipping on orders of $25 or more (not to Alaska or Hawaii), a full-size gift when you qualify and a $25 coupon toward a beauty service.
Returns and exceptions
Returning an item takes away the base and bonus points it earned. If you paid with points, they come back to your balance, prorated when only part of the purchase goes back. Points cannot be shared or transferred, and they cannot be earned or used on Ulta Beauty purchases through TikTok Shop. Third-party marketplace orders and UB Marketplace items can earn base points but cannot be paid with points.
The Ulta Beauty at Target partnership ended on August 15, 2026. Ulta says points earned there stay in your account, and qualifying purchases through that date still count toward Platinum or Diamond.
