Home Depot Military Discount, Explained
Home Depot gives verified U.S. veterans, active service members and spouses 10% off eligible full-priced items in stores and online.
On this page

Yes, Home Depot has a military discount, and it works every day, not only on holidays. This summary, in our own words, was put together on October 26, 2026. Home Depot's own military page on homedepot.com could not be read (the site refused our requests), so the core rules below come from Home Depot's corporate newsroom, and the annual cap comes from two recent third-party reports. Confirm the details with Home Depot before a large purchase.
The short answer

| Who qualifies? | U.S. veterans, active service members and spouses | Home Depot newsroom |
| Where? | In stores and online | Home Depot newsroom |
| Which items? | Eligible full-priced items; appliances are not part of it | Home Depot newsroom (2025) |
| Yearly limit | $400 in savings per calendar year | Third-party reports (2026) |
Who qualifies
Home Depot widened the program at the end of 2021 so that every U.S. veteran, active service member and spouse can use it every day. Before that, the everyday discount was narrower. The newsroom post describes the benefit as available in stores and on homedepot.com once you register.
How to sign up
- Download the Home Depot app and sign in to your personal account, or create one.
- Verify your military status. Home Depot's how-to guide points to SheerID, the verification service it uses, for help with this step.
- Once verified, your account shows your military status. Online, the discount is tied to that account.
- In a store, open the app and have it ready at the register. Home Depot suggests letting the app remember your sign-in so the discount is quick to pull up.
What the discount covers
A May 2025 Home Depot release describes the discount as 10% off full-priced, non-appliance merchandise, the same discount offered on homedepot.com. Items already marked down are therefore not the target of the discount, and major appliances sit outside it.
Appliances have a separate route for military shoppers. Through Home Depot's partnership with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service and the Navy Exchange, eligible Exchange customers can shop tax free, with free shipping on major appliances. The same release says Home Depot has around 90 appliance showrooms inside military exchange stores.
The $400 yearly cap
Home Depot's newsroom pages do not state a dollar limit. The Military Wallet (updated October 22, 2026) and DealNews (updated August 4, 2026) both report that the discount is capped at $400 in savings per year, and The Military Wallet says the cap resets each calendar year. At 10%, that cap is reached after $4,000 of eligible spending. Treat this as reported, not as confirmed policy, and check your account or ask at the register.
Moving with the military
Home Depot also runs a military moving hub with moving trucks, boxes and containers for service members who relocate. The 2025 release points to militarymoving.com for those resources.
